Update September 30-October 4th

Welcome to Fall and October!

This week in Math we completed our unit on Skip Counting and began our unit on Estimating Numbers.  We will still be discussing Skip Counting and Friendly numbers as they are still very much relevant in Estimating Numbers.

Learning Goals of this Unit include:

- Connect a number to its nearest multiple of ten by rounding.
- Use skip counting to build appropriate number lines for different situations.
- Compare large numbers using reasoning and benchmarks.
- Use a variety of representations and reasoning to order numbers.

Here are some links to help explain what we have been learning in Math:

In Language we are continuing to work on writing and reading recounts.

In Gym, we continue to work on cooperative games and good sportsmanship.

Weekly Homework began this week - a letter was sent home to explain.  If there are any questions or concerns, please let me know!

We went to the Learning Commons for the first time to take out books yesterday. Students had the option to take out 3 books (2 english and 1 french). French books will stay in the classroom, however their english books can go home to enjoy if they wish. They will need to be returned by the Tuesday, October, 15th.

We enjoyed our first Swim to Survive session yesterday on Tuesday, October 1st.  We will be going again on Tuesday, October 8th and Tuesday, October 15th. Thank you to our parent volunteers for your help in joining us!

The grade 3s are putting on the Thanksgiving Mass this Friday, October 4th at 10:55am.  Everyone is welcome to join us if you wish!

Thank you for your continued support. As always, please don't hesitate to reach out if you have concerns or questions.

Yours in teaching,
Mrs. Summers
