Update - Week of September 16-20

We have been very busy learning and getting to know each other.  We jumped right into math and language and we finished our Digital Citizenship assignment yesterday. Ask students about their song or rap that they created.

Digital Citizen Unit Objectives :
  • To teach our students how to create a positive digital footprint.
  • To teach our students how to be positive digital citizens who model the gospel values during their online citizenship.
This week in Math we will work on completing our unit on Representing Whole Numbers.  We should be ready for our Assessment by the end of the week.

Learning Goals of this Unit include:
-Represent multiples of 100 concretely and symbolically and rename those numbers as tens.
-Model and record three-digit numbers.
-Represent values in multiple ways and reason about those representations.
-Represent 1000 as units of other amounts.

In Language we have been working on writing Recounts.  We wrote a recount about our Summer as well as our weekends (on Monday).  Most Mondays we will write about what we did on the weekend.  You can help your child by talking about: who, what, where, when, why, as well as putting events in order using words: first, next, then, after that, and finally.  We are also focusing on reading passages and learning strategies about how to answer multiple choice questions and short answers.

We began an Art activity focusing on Fall leaves and lines.

This week we have Rocks and Rings in the gym on Tuesday & Friday.  Our usual gym days are Tuesday and Friday, so this week our gym will be going to the Rocks and Rings sessions.

Learning Commons (library) day will be Tuesday.  The week of September 23 is LC orientation. The week of September 30, we will begin book exchange.

Thank you for taking the time to fill out all the forms that were sent home! Swim to Survive Information and Forms will be sent home today.
